It truly is a dream come true to wake up every day and work in orthodontics. When I was just 11 years old, I had braces. When I saw how great my smile looked after they came off, I knew I wanted to provide that same experience to others.
I followed my dream to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where I did my undergraduate work in organismal and systems biology, then transferred to the UT campus in Memphis to obtain my doctorate and perform my residency in orthodontics. I have been practicing for more than 15 years, and I always like to keep up to date on all the latest advances in my field so I can provide the best care possible for my patients.
I am lucky to work with a team of excellent people who are great at their jobs and are true friends to our patients. A lot of the people who come to our practice stay involved in their oral health for years, so it’s wonderful to watch strong relationships build between the staff and patients over that time. We like to keep things optimistic and energetic. Our patients really appreciate the fun atmosphere we maintain at the office.
I really love working with people, so it’s a blessing to have a profession that keeps me engaged with so many great folks in my community. I like seeing new faces all the time and doing everything I can to help my neighbors achieve healthy smiles.
Whether it’s putting on a set of life-changing braces or just teaching a patient about the importance of flossing and fluoride, there’s nothing better than providing care for the people who come to my practice.
Outside the Office
I like to stay active, so I spend my leisure time golfing, playing ping-pong, and serving as a referee for the basketball team at Central Baptist Church. I also enjoy traveling, especially with my family.
My wife Tina and I have raised three beautiful daughters here in my lifelong home of Crossville. Our oldest, Kirsten, is really outgoing (she even joined me on a skydiving adventure recently), and our twin daughters, Ashley and Heather, are a great team. Tina and I are looking forward to being grandparents one day, but for now, we’re happy to spend our time with our dog, Daisy, and our two cats, Miley and Sassy.

MEET DR. QUIRK
I did not grow up knowing that I alway wanted to be an Orthodontist. However, I have always loved puzzles! In so many ways, orthodontic treatment is just a puzzle. I had braces as a teenager and was fortunate to maintain relatively straight teeth until I started my doctorate in my twenties and my teeth began to shift signficantly. I sought out retreatment with clear aligners and was fascinated by the fact that dental crowding and bite problems could be treated in so many different ways and at any stage of life. The way the body is able to respond is truly incredible!
Dr. Quirk is from Cookeville, TN. I was very fortunate to attend Sewanee: The University of South, where I majored in biochemistry. My journey to dentistry was a winding one. I knew I wanted a profession in the medical field; however, upon entering Sewanee I was unsure whether that would be in the research field or another medical field. However, in my Junior year of undergrad, I went on a medical mission trip to Haiti and worked in the Dental clinic for the week. I fell in LOVE with Dentistry. I completed my doctorate and specialty degree at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. I am so grateful that each day I get to go into work and do a job that I love!
I met my husband, Ryan Quirk, during our undergraduate education. He also majored in biochemistry. We were married in November of 2016. We love to hike, kayak, camp, ski, and really do anything outdoors. While we do not yet have children, we do have a fur-puppy named Smoky, who is an Australian Shepherd.
Why I love Orthodontics
Every day I wake up and know that I have the best job in the world. There are many reasons why I love being an Orthodontist. However, my personal history with orthodontic treatment, combined with my love of physics and puzzles is why I love what I do so much. Additionally, I really enjoy spending time with patients and parents, getting to become apart of their lives during such a transformative time in their lives.
The Team at Wheeler Orthodontics
I am so blessed by the opportunity to join the Wheeler Orthodontics Team. We truly have one of the best teams around. The way the team works together is something very special. They operate like family, which makes them so much stronger than they would be otherwise. I shadowed Dr. Wheeler for two summers prior to beginning my residency in Orthodontics, and his team was so gracious to me during those times. When the opportunity arose for me to join the Wheeler Orthodontics Family, it was an easy decision!
